ICANN seeks input and advice on new gTLDs

11 November 2009 -- ICANN is soliciting information, advice and proposed models as it considers soliciting expressions of interest in new gTLDs.

The public comment forum will be open until December 11, 2009 however, community members that wish to have their input considered by the Board during its December meeting, should submit comments no later than November 27, 2009.

ICANN: .POST Sponsorship Agreement Posted for Public Comment

2 November 2009 -- ICANN is today posting the .POST Sponsorship Agreement for public comment. ICANN and the Universal Postal Union (UPU) reached an agreement in principle following a challenging yet fruitful negotiation process. The Agreement represents a significant accomplishment for ICANN, the UPU, and the global Internet community, as it is the first gTLD Registry Agreement between ICANN and an Intergovernmental Organization (IGO).

ICANN and the Universal Postal Union Conclude Negotiation for .POST

20 October 2009 -- ICANN and the Universal Postal Union (UPU) have reached an agreement in principle for the UPU sponsorship of the .POST Top-Level Domain. Final approval of the agreement is subject to ICANN's public comment process (which will commence after ICANN concludes its meeting in Seoul on 30 October 2009), and consideration by the Board of Directors.

ICANN: Bulk Transfer of Red Register Domains to DirectNIC

8 October 2009 -- ICANN has authorized a bulk transfer of registrar Red Register Inc.’s domain names to DirectNIC Ltd., due to the de-accreditation of Red Register Inc.

The affected gTLD registries have taken steps to effect bulk transfers of Red Register's names.

Former registrant-customers of Red Register should soon receive notices of the transfer from DirectNIC. Customer questions about the transfer should be directed to DirectNIC at:

ICANN Advisory: Availability of Bulk Transfers in Individual gTLDs

5 October 2009 -- ICANN-accredited registrars are advised that Part B of the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy ("Transfer Policy") permits ICANN to approve a bulk transfer of all of a registrar's names in a particular gTLD without requiring simultaneous transfer of its names in other gTLDs.

ICANN Announces Important Milestones in Making the Internet More Accessible to All

4 October 2009 -- In the past several days, ICANN has announced recent milestones regarding changes in how the Internet community will use the Internet in the near future. ICANN: Expedited Registry Security Request Process Posted

1 October 2009 -- The Expedited Registry Security Request (ERSR) is the result of a collaborative effort between ICANN and gTLD registries to develop a process for quick action in cases where gTLD registries:

* inform ICANN of a present or imminent security incident to their TLD and/or the DNS and
* request a contractual waiver for actions they might take or have taken to mitigate or eliminate the incident.

A contractual waiver is an exemption from compliance with a specific provision of the Registry Agreement for the time period necessary to respond to the Incident.

ICANN Seeking Expressions of Interest for Bulk Transfer of gTLD Names

June 15, 2009 -- As the result of the recent de-accreditation of registrar Maxim Internet, Inc., Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is seeking expressions of interest from ICANN-accredited registrars that might wish to assume sponsorship of the gTLD names that were previously managed by Maxim Internet. This request for expressions of interest is made pursuant to the De-Accredited Registrar Transition Procedure.

New Explanatory Memo for Pre-delegation Testing for New gTLDs

The module 5 of the Draft Applicant Guidebook version 2 available since early February describes procedures applicable at the concluding stages of the gTLD application process, more specifically, a pre-delegation test addressing technical and other requirements the applicant will be asked to fulfill.
