Will Display McAfee SECURE Trustmark in Search Results

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 10 -- Security company McAfee, Inc. (NYSE:MFE) and TheFind, a search engine for shopping, announced today that online retailers with certified McAfee SECURE(TM) sites will have the McAfee SECURE trustmark shown next to their products within TheFind's product search results. TheFind had over 15 million visitors last month and sent shoppers to over 100,000 different online retailers.

Shoppers searching on TheFind this holiday shopping season can now look for the McAfee SECURE trustmark and quickly decide which sites are secure to buy from without worry of identity theft. "Displaying the well known McAfee SECURE trustmark prominently within shopping search results helps to bridge the trust gap between secure e-tailers and shoppers," said Todd Gebhart, executive vice president and general manager, McAfee Consumer, Mobile and Small Business at McAfee, Inc. "We are excited to partner with TheFind where the McAfee SECURE trustmark will now be seen and appreciated by millions of shoppers every month."

A recent survey by Harris, Inc. and TheFind identified that "safety and security of an online retailer" is the second most important concern overall of online shoppers, behind only the price of a purchase itself.

Retailers that display a McAfee SECURE trustmark must pass rigorous daily tests for vulnerabilities that pose a threat to sensitive customer information. McAfee also conducts daily network perimeter scanning, testing for more than 10,000 network and Web application vulnerabilities, ongoing rigorous security testing to ensure protection against malware, and business practice review for Web site owners and online retailers. With the McAfee SECURE service, e-commerce merchants can also demonstrate PCI-compliance, the standard for the payment card industry. The McAfee SECURE trustmark is used by more than 80,000 Web sites.

Survey Methodology

Harris Interactive® fielded the study on behalf of TheFind from October 5-7, 2009 via its QuickQuerySM online omnibus service, interviewing a nationwide sample of 2,046 U.S. adults aged 18 years and older, of whom 1,772 shop online. Data for questions related to online use or behaviors were weighted specifically to the respective "online" populations. No estimates of theoretical sampling error can be calculated; a full methodology is available.
