comScore Ranks BuscaPe Largest Brazilian Site in Products and Services Segment
Access from abroad accounted for nearly 40% of the 13.4 million visits the site received in September
SAO PAULO, Nov. 12 -- A survey conducted in September by comScore, a leader in audience measurement in the digital universe, shows BuscaPe, a pioneer in price comparison service for various product categories on the internet and the largest site in this segment in Latin America, in 11th place among the most accessed sites in the country and fourth among Brazilian owned sites with the largest audience in Brazil. Growth over last year was 74%.
Acquired in September for US$342 million by the South African media group Naspers, the search engine has 38.4% of its hits coming from outside Brazil, which corresponds to 5.18 million users. During the period of the survey in Brazil, the site registered an audience of 8.3 million.
"We are very satisfied with the results. It's proof that we are recognized for contributing to the whole online buying process, from awareness to post-sale. These numbers show that consumers are more and more aware of the importance of researching and comparing prices prior to making their purchases, and also using the resources currently available on the web. Nowadays people are increasingly trying to stay informed and seek the best deals, requiring safety in financial transactions and demanding the best level of service," said BuscaPe CEO Romero Rodrigues.
*The comScore survey did not include the audience for public computers such as LAN houses and web access via PDAs (cell phones).
