Aperture to Host Panel at TED 2010
NEW YORK, NY -- 02/01/10 -- Aperture, a Datran Media digital marketing technology company, today announced its support for the TED 2010 "What the World Needs Now" conference, which will be held February 9-13 in Long Beach, California.
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to ideas worth spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives.
The annual TED conference invites the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak about some of the most complex and pressing issues of our day. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action. The TED audience provides support for TED Prize winners to help drive positive change for future generations.
As a sponsor of the TED 2010 event, Aperture will host a TED luncheon panel discussion titled, "Leadership 2.0, the Rise of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)." The TED luncheon panelists include John Wood, founder and executive chairman of Room to Read and author of "Leaving Microsoft to Change the World," Tim Sanders, author of "Saving the World at Work," and Patrick Vogt, chairman and CEO of Datran Media and a longtime supporter of TED Prize winners. Aperture will also provide digital technology support to drive awareness for 2009 TED Prize winner Karen Armstrong's ground breaking Charter for Compassion campaign.
"I'm pleased to join this discussion about Leadership 2.0 at the TED 2010 event," said John Wood, founder and executive chairman of Room to Read. "More and more, social media is providing a lens through which we can view an organization's responsibility initiatives. Even new media giant Twitter, a supporter and strategic partner of Room to Read, is leading by example by mobilizing the goodwill of the user community to support charitable initiatives. The @fledgling partnership project is just one example of how corporate philanthropy and social media are converging, and the TED event is the perfect venue to discuss the changing role of leadership in a hyper-connected, socially-conscious world."
"We are proud to be a part of the TED community and excited to participate in such an inspired annual event," said Patrick Vogt, chairman and CEO of Datran Media. "Our panel topic is very timely, as corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become a transcendent theme which radically transforms the role of leadership going forward. Companies that will thrive over the next few years will need to adopt CSR as a guiding principle of their corporate culture. We value the work of esteemed TED curator Chris Anderson, and continue to support TED's global mission for many years to come."
