Managing the yield performance of large advertising networks, such as the Advertising.com network, requires a soundly structured approach. One approach is to interpret advertising inventory as a commodity and the network as an exchange. In such, analysis tools and techniques based on established practices of economic modeling can be used to help optimize yield and improve media planning. One such tool is the price/volume forecast generator. While interpreting a price/volume forecast is relatively straightforward, creating an accurate forecast is challenging both from an algorithm and engineering perspective. This presentation will provide an overview of AOL Advertising's experience on how to construct and use price/volume forecasts.

Michael Kamprath, senior technical director, R & D Technology at AOL Advertising
Michael Kamprath currently leads the AOL Advertising R&D engineering team and manages Advertising.com's AdLearn technology platform. Michael started his tenure at AOL Advertising when he joined Advertising.com's R&D team in 2000. Before that, Michael was an officer in the US Air Force where he worked in the military's space program, performing duties such as studying the effects of space debris on satellites and managing the construction and launch of rockets that launch government satellites into space. Michael received a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan

Tracy La, tech manager at AOL Advertising
Tracy La is the manager of several applied algorithm research efforts at the AOL Advertising's Research and Development office based in Mountain View, California. Tracy joined the R&D team in 2004, and her primary role is to lead a small team that bridges the gap between theoretical research and engineering. Prior to AOL, Tracy was a consultant at Novellus Systems, a chemical manufacturing company, where she coordinated requirements between engineers and technical writers. Tracy holds a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from Santa Clara University.

Brad Terrell, VP & general manager, Digital Media at Netezza
Brad Terrell is responsible for maximizing the value Netezza delivers to the many innovative digital media firms that power their terabyte-scale data analysis initiatives with Netezza's data warehouse appliances.
