Acxiom I-Check Empowers Consumers to Initiate Their Own Background Checks
Website gives job and rental applicants control over access to their information
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – October 13, 2009 – Acxiom Corporation (Nasdaq: ACXM) announced today the launch of Acxiom I-Check™, a web-based service that allows consumers to initiate their own background checks, view the confidential results online, dispute erroneous findings and control access to the results. The information is not available through traditional Internet searches and can be shared with potential employers, landlords and volunteer agencies at the applicant’s discretion.
Acxiom verifies the identity of the person making the screening request by using its Acxiom Identify-X™ Verify real-time authentication solution. This confirms applicants are who they say they are before a low-cost, in-depth background screening is conducted.
The results of the check can be accessed by the applicant with a password. Applicants maintain control of the screening information and can choose to share the password with a prospective employer or other organization for viewing the results.
“Cost-conscious companies and nonprofit organizations may require potential employees, contractors, vendors and volunteers to provide their own background check,” said Mike Cool, CPP, vice president of Acxiom Information Security Services. “This service protects the safety and integrity of the employer or organization while also giving consumers more of a say in the process.”
Acxiom offers a full menu of post-hire services including recurring background checks. The company can also supply employee badges that show individuals have undergone the I-Check background screening process.
The I-Check service is based on several decades of Acxiom experience and knowledge in the background screening industry. Acxiom also provides employers legally compliant reports including 100 percent in-person/real-time criminal record checks, fingerprinting, drug testing, credit reports, verification services and driving records.
